Having signed up for the Tour de Bristol in April, I haven’t done any training yet and the countdown is now at 34 days.

So Brad and I set off on Sunday for my first training ride, a dry run of my commute into work and then on into town.

Most of our ride was on cycle paths.  We would normally take the Bristol to Bath path, but since we were going via my work, we took the Frome Valley path.  It isn’t one we are familiar with, however with a quick check on the internet before we left, and the signage, we only went wrong twice.

The path goes from UWE in Frenchay, down through Stoke Park, then towards Snuff Mills and Eastville Park on the Frome Valley Walkway.  We went slightly the wrong way when we got to Junction 2 of the M32, but the route essentially follows the M32 until you get to Cabot Circus and most of it is on pavements/paths.

We then headed towards the newly paved section of Feeder Road before cutting onto the Chocolate path, along Cumberland Road, it was then off towards Bedminster.

Total distance was just over 13 miles.
