Website upgrade

Last week I upgraded this website to Wordpress 2.6 using the automatic upgrade plugin. Although most of you won’t notice any changes, it will allow me to add some new features soon.

For those of you that didn’t notice I have recently added a ratings bar on most of the jokes and posts. This will allow me to see which entries are the most popular on the site. So please cast your vote.

I also fixed the contact us page, which had stopped working (not sure when).

Wii Fit Search

We have been trying for a couple of weeks now to get a Wii Fit, but without much success. I was trying the main online retailers such as Amazon. The only sites that seems to have them were Amazon Marketplace and Ebay, at inflated prices.

When I was looking for the Wii last year, I used a stock checking site wii-consoles, they now have a Wii Fit stock checker as well (www.wii-consoles.co.uk/wii-fit-in-stock.asp). Unfortunately that site has now been blocked by our company firewall, which meant I could only check stock in the evenings or weekends, which was not very successful. Continue Reading »

FRIDAY FOOD: other websites

Posted by Eloise on 30 May 2008 | Tagged as: Food, General

Being rather busy today, and not having eaten anything wonderful recently, I thought I would share with you a couple of food websites.

The first is Chocolate & Zucchini, a blog written by Clotilde, who lives in Paris. She shares all things food related - recipes, cookbook acquisitions, restaurant experiences, ideas, and inspirations.

The second is delicious days an other blog, this one written by Nicky who is based in Munich. It has the most wonderful photographs of food, that just make your mouth water.

Sending large files

I took a lot of photos over the weekend, and I have been looking for a way to get the orginal files to everybody, so they can keep, print, look etc at them.

I didn’t want to email them, as even the zip file would be quite big. I didn’t want to have to send lots of emails with a couple of photos on each, as it will still fill everyone’s mailbox up.

One thought was to use a ftp site, but I haven’t set one up before.

There are now plenty of file sharing/transferring options available on the web. I tried several different ones. The best one for me (for free) was Filemail. com. It allows you to upload up to 2 GB at a time, you can email directly from the site (the recipients receive and email with a link to the website), there is a maximum download limit of 20 times, and the maximum life of the downloads is 7 days.
