I have now added a guestbook, so rather than commenting on the website on a Friday night in the pub, the Live, I believe, you can air your views to the whole world.

Shakespeare - a cultural outing

Posted by Eloise on 28 Apr 2006 | Tagged as: Uncategorized

After our recent outing to experiance the opera, we felt that we didn’t get enough culture.  Not wanting to got to the opera again any time soon, we settled for traditional Shakespeare, and a comedy.

Tobacco FactorySo last night we (Brad, myself, Trudi, Mouldy and Ali) found ourselves at the Tobacco Factory in Bristol to see Love’s Labours Lost.

We all enjoyed it, but as with most Shakespeare it does go on a bit.  I think the main complaint was that it was rather too hot in the theatre.

Bank Holiday Weekend

Posted by Eloise on 18 Apr 2006 | Tagged as: General

The weather stayed mostly dry this weekend, which was quite amazing considering it always seem to rain on a bank holiday.

We worked hard this weekend on the house.  We have nearly finished redecorating the lounge diner.  We would have finished but we ran out of paint on Sunday because one of the walls needed an extra coat.  I did attempt to go to B&Q yesterday morning, but there was about a 2 mile queue, so turned round and came back.  I knew it was a bad idea.

Friday we had a meal at Brad’s Mum & Dad’s, my Mum and Dad were there as well.  It was a really lovely meal, we didn’t get home till 1.30am.

Saturday, I spent most of the day painting the skirting boards, while Brad went out on a all dayer for Mouldy’s 30th Birthday.  They did then lenght of the Gloucester Road, and then went for a curry.  Liz, Ali and myself joined them later on for a couple of pubs and then for the curry.  I will create a separate post for this with photos. Proper Camera Bag

Posted by Eloise on 06 Apr 2006 | Tagged as: General

Slingshot camera bagI have just bought myself a proper camera bag for my Fuji S5500.

I have had the camera just over a year, but apart from buying a pouch for it I didn’t really want a proper camera bag, as they tend to be bulky and shout of I’m a tourist or I have an expensive camera in here.

While we were over in Canada, I was carrying my camera in a small rucksack. Which was fine, but everytime I wanted to take a photo, it took me nearly 10 minutes to get it out of the bag.

On our last day I saw this rucksack in one of the skiing magazines. Its a one strap bag, which means that you can swing it round and it has a side opening for the camera, which means you can take the camera out without taking the bag off. Its a Lowepro bag, so nice and sturdy and it comes with a weatherproof cover, and lots of pockets for other bits and pieces.

Excellent for those magnificent views from chair lifts. It will also be ideal for walking and trips out and about when you want to have your camera out of the way, but accessible for those don’t want to miss shots.

If the weather stays fine this weekend will take it on a test run to the beach.

Frampton Walk

Posted by Eloise on 02 Apr 2006 | Tagged as: General

Since the sun was shinning on saturday, we thought we would  put our walking boots on grab the dog and go for a walk.  Well I would have put my boots on but Brad had left them in his car, which was still in Bristol.

So with our walking stuff on and the sun in the sky we headed off to Nightingale Bridge to start the Parish Walk

It may of been blue sky and sunshine but there was a lot of mud around, Bea loved it.

From the Bridge we headed along the Frome Valley Walkway towards the Globe and St Peter’s Church,  following the river as far a the next bridge, where Bea took a quick dip.  I think the river was a little colder than she expected.  At least it go rid of some of the mud. We turned left and headed towards the centenial field.  From there we headed back towards Church Road and back along the river to the bridge and back home.
